What is the cost of living at Colonial Hill Retirement Center?
It depends on the size of the apartment. Pricing ranges from $1,627.00 for one person in a studio up to $4,195.00 for two persons in a two bedroom for a month. Is there an entry fee?
No, when you decide to rent an apartment at Colonial Hill you just pay first and last month’s rent to hold an apartment for 30 days; however, if you decide not to move in that 30 days the first and last month’s rent will be refunded back to you in its entirety. A security deposit is due at the time you move in.
Do you have to sign a lease or can you rent from month to month?
You may sign a lease at any time or rent month to month, it is entirely up to the resident. The lease lets us know that if your health stays the same you intend to live with us for a year. If health changes occur and you can no longer live in an independent environment the lease is void.
Do you have an age requirement?
We do not have an age requirement. Our residents living at the center now range in age from 60 to 101.
How many residents and apartments do you have?
We have around 70 residents and 63 apartments. We have studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and luxury two –bedroom apartments. Click here to view our interactive floor plans.
What amenities are included in the monthly rent?
Are there any additional costs past the rent?
Yes, cable is $10.00 per month, additional meals are $5.00 per meal, electricity and telephone are additional. Supportive Services is $12.00 an hour.
What is Supportive Services?
At Colonial Hill we offer a department called supportive services. The supportive service staff is here to cater to the residents needs whether they need help dressing, bathing, medication reminders, providing companionship or doing laundry. If residents would like additional help the supportive staff is available to provide it. Supportive services are offered seven days a week from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. After hours our night supervisors are available for emergencies and well checks. You are not contractually obligated to use supportive services. You may call the front desk and ask for help if you are feeling unwell and never use the service once you are better. It is entirely up to the resident.
What transportation is provided in the rent?
We provide transportation banking, shopping, and to doctor’s appointments every Tuesday and Thursday.
Do you offer parking for residents who drive?
Yes, we have parking spaces available for the residents who drive.
Do you offer the internet?
Yes, Colonial Hill has wireless internet throughout the building free of charge.
Are there laundry facilities available and does it cost anything to use the laundry facilities?
Yes, we have laundry facilities on every floor for the residents to do their personal laundry and there is no charge to use these facilities. Housekeeping will take care of your sheets, towels, and washcloths each week.
What does weekly housekeeping entail?
Each week the housekeeping staff will change your bed/beds, launder the sheets, towels, and washcloths, clean the apartment and take out the trash and recycle papers. When the housekeepers clean an apartment they clean the kitchen, bathroom(s), dust, clean blinds, windows, sweep the balcony, and vacuum the apartment.
Do you do background checks on your staff?
Yes, every employee goes through background checks. If an employee has access to apartments they are hired by referral only.
Are the meals prepared on the premises and what is the cost of meals?
Yes, the meals are prepared in our kitchen and served in courses in our formal dining room by our wait staff. One meal is included in the price of the rent any additional meals are $5.00 and guest meals are $10.00.
What are the times of your meals and are there choices of food items?
We offer breakfast 8-10 am, lunch 12-1pm and dinner 5:00 or 5:30. One meal is included in the price of the rent any additional meal is $5.00. There are a variety of menu items to choose from. Each meal includes choice of juice, appetizer, salad, entrée, two vegetables and a homemade dessert. Menu choices change daily. Please view a sample menu.
Are there differences between Colonial Hill and an assisted living facility?
Yes, as an independent living center we may not administer medications. Our supportive service department does medication reminders instead.
